Edel DVR Wedges: Review

Image
Picking the right wedge can be a real game-changer.  But it's also true that choosing the right wedge can be one of the hardest things in club fitting.  Do you pick based on the numbers you see on Trackman, or do you go with your feelings? With your short game clubs, in my opinion, "feel" is so important that you cannot ignore it when choosing them.  For me, getting my three Edel wedges (50°, 56°, 60°) has been one of the most eye-opening changes in my club setting. And I'm not getting paid to say this so I hope you understand the honesty in that statement.  Edel 50° DVR G with N. S. PRO 950GH Stock distance: 110 yds Edel 56° DVR G with N.S. PRO 950GH Stock distance: 90 yds  Edel 60° DVR G with N.S. PRO 950GH Stock distance: 80yds So what are the advantages of using an "Edel" wedge?  First of all, I love the look of an Edel wedge. It really suits my eyes.  This is a comparison between my old wedge (left) and the newer Edel wedge (right). They are both ...

Quarantine Mid-May

Image
And just like that April flew by, and we are well into May. It is crazy.  Spain is still under lockdown. The government announced a 4 phase plan to reopening the country beginning on May 5th, but Madrid has been lagging behind. We are still in "phase 0," so not really close to going back to a normal life; who knows what that means post-pandemic. Athletes are allowed to go back to basic training at Phase 0, but golf courses are still closed, so as of now I run outside but workout and practice indoors.  But thanks to the rigorous "stay at home" orders, the number of coronavirus cases have decreased by heaps. I definitely feel like the city is heading toward the right direction, and am proud of the effort we have put in to control the virus.   Yesterday I took a walk in the evening and came across a group of protesters demanding the government to allow Madrid to move on to "Phase 1." Once we get to Phase 1, golf courses will reopen, and some businesses, too, ...

Quarantine Mid-April

So who expected this out of 2020? I didn't.  But also, because I haven't been updating my blog as frequently as I should, there are a few things to update golf-wise. I didn't play well in LET Q-School in January(I won't even get to the scores because that's something I'd like to wipe off my mind like a clean slate lol), but THANKFULLY, it seemed like I would get into a few LETAS (Ladies European Tour Access Series) events and also compete on the Santander Tour, until coronavirus hit, of course. As of now, a lot of things are uncertain, and I can't really say for certain when my next tournament will be.  In the meantime though, I have been really grateful to have this month just to reflect on my game and review my goals. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to hit real golf balls for a month, but I have been training hard and as efficiently as I possibly can indoors. I will probably publish a post on quarantine practice later this week, so I will not explai...

Winning an ATP Event/ ATP初優勝

Image
Hello peeps, it is getting a little steamy in Tokyo! I am already anticipating a very hot summer this year. For those of you that haven't seen it on my social media, I won my first professional event last month! It was an one day event at Nanso Country Club, and I shot 67, winning by one! Super exciting :) Love it when hard work pays off. I definitely feel like my longgame has made some positive progress, and I really believe that GIR's correspond most directly to consistent and lower scores. Yes, shortgame is important, but you don't want to be scrambling on every single hole because that just wears you out. Also, I just want to bring this up to those of you who are looking into golfing professionally in Japan, but don't have status. For example, I didn't do well in the Pro-Test last year which would have given me a status on the Step-Up Tour (equivalent to Symetra) nor did I do well in Q-school, so I had to find a place to compete. There are many one day event...
