So a little apology for not writing this up any earlier- I played the three day Pro Test and cut to the point, I didn't make it by 7 shots. I shot 78-72-78; after the second day, I almost thought I could maybe light up the third day and make it, but I just couldn't piece together my round. It's a bummer because I started the third day with a birdie, which probably was a good start if I needed to shoot underpar, but couldn't convert it for the better. I'm not really disappointed, I think I played aggressively the third day as it was required, just had bad breaks and a lost ball (which was found later after the three minutes mark) on the third hole did not help the momentum out either. If anything, I wish I played better the first day so I didn't have to feel like I had to grind out every shot and putt for the remaining two days. This is a little throwback but I was working as a "trainee" (ken-shu-sei) at a golf course in Japan until this past May. If you were wondering why I was quiet after Q-school, that's probably it.  So after I finished my Pro Test and Japanese Q-School last August, I had to figure a few things out. I wasn't playing well, I was struggling getting used to Japan (ironic because I am Japanese lol), and I needed to find out more about my game- I just needed time to align everything straighter.   After giving it a little thought, I decided that I would work and practice at this golf course until I could set a plan for my game. Hello peeps, it is getting a little steamy in Tokyo! I am already anticipating a very hot summer this year. For those of you that haven't seen it on my social media, I won my first professional event last month! It was an one day event at Nanso Country Club, and I shot 67, winning by one! Super exciting :) Love it when hard work pays off. I definitely feel like my longgame has made some positive progress, and I really believe that GIR's correspond most directly to consistent and lower scores. Yes, shortgame is important, but you don't want to be scrambling on every single hole because that just wears you out. Also, I just want to bring this up to those of you who are looking into golfing professionally in Japan, but don't have status. For example, I didn't do well in the Pro-Test last year which would have given me a status on the Step-Up Tour (equivalent to Symetra) nor did I do well in Q-school, so I had to find a place to compete.
